My most recent update.....

Sorry if I haven't had the time to write some of you personally. We all know chemo sucks, and well....it really sucks right now. I just finished my 5th treatment of R-CHOP on 6/10. I'm wore out and achy from the Nuelasta.......but trying to remember I have one more treatment to go (hopefully!). I had an appt with my Onc yesterday. Looks like I'll be getting my PET scan about 4 wks after my 6th treatment. My onc says that if anything 'lights up' on the scan, then our next option is either radiati… Continue

Do you ever wonder where you find the strength?

I wonder everyday where my strength comes from. Of course family and friends give encouragement, but really where does it come from. My boyfriend Johnny can always make me smile, even when I'm feeling bad. He even calls me his chemo baby. :) Still, where does the strength come from. I'm not one to attend church every Sunday but I do believe in God and the power of prayer. Yet I still question where my strength comes from. My mom told me yesterday that she's very proud of me and how strong I've b… Continue

The time has come...

First I want to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write to me and give their support. I have lost so much of my hair today that the time has come........I will be shaving whats left of it off tomorrow! Even though I've already had my first round of chemo, I don't think the fact that I have cancer will really set in until I look at myself in the mirror bald. That may sound weird, but hey whatever! Maybe I'll even post some pictures at some point!

New to Planet Cancer

My name is Danielle, I'm 24 years old. I'd been healthy all my life until I noticed a swollen lymph node underneath my right jaw. It continued to grow, dentists said it was probably an infection and gave me antibiotics and sent me home. After taking all my meds, there was no change.......they sent me to a general surgeon for a biopsy. The surgeon did a core biopsy that came back to be Non Hodgkin's Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. So of course I read everything I could and read that this cancer is… Continue

Hey Danielle, just thinking of you. Finished #5 yesterday so that means you have #6 next week. AND THEN THAT'S IT FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeeeeee-haw. I just bought my tix to sit on a sandy beach in the Dominican Republic in Sept as my reward for getting through this. Got my results of my CT scan yesterday. Encouraging but it's still there....I was praying for a miracle that he'd say...well...isn't that something...not a single sign of cancer. Mmmmm. But making good progress on putting it into remission. Here's hoping that your Neulasta hangover is gone by this week. Good luck next week girl. I'll be thinking of you! M.

Hey Danielle, good to hear from you :) Yes, things are okay, I guess. Things could be better but they also could be a hell of a lot worse so I'm not complaining! :) How are things with you? Feeling ok these days?

My dad was stage IIIB, I was stage IA. It was really just a freak thing that I got diagnosed at all. I thought I was having an asthma attack so I went to the ER and they found the tumor. Weird! and lucky. I will definitely keep my fingers crossed that you are in remission...those pets can really get to you after a while. All the waiting, eek! I will be thinking about you and hoping you can get back to work soon. I know the feeling for sure.

Yup, we're both doing R-CHOP, but he's not going to be able to do radiation and I am. Hopefully it all works out. So you're almost done too! That's exciting. I can't wait for this to be over so I can feel like my body is mine again. You ever get that feeling? Like you're responsible for nothing that happens to you anymore? I don't do very well with feeling out of control so I'm working on trying to take it back at least on some levels. Anyway, good luck!

Hi Danielle,
Yeah, it's been insane with both of us being sick but in a way it definitely makes things easier because I don't have time to worry about myself and we can commiserate about how much it sucks, haha. Treatment is going really well, I have my last cycle this Thursday, then a pet, then radiation and hopefully I'm done. My Dad is getting 6 cycles and he has his fourth this Thursday. So hopefully we'll both be done with everything by August! How are you doing?
