Hello All Ive been on for a few months. My wife angie has cancer. We have a 6 year old girl(going on 15) and a 4 year old boy. The parenting part is not to bad these days the kids just know that mommy goes to the doctor alot. We have never tried to tell them. Family takes them for us when ever she has treatments or operations. Someday when they are old my Angie can tell them. Best wishes for everyone out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope I am right about this Jamie but do we just pop over every day (or most days in my case) and just write about where we are at and chat in general about stuff? If I'm wrong please let me know. Well until I hear different I will just update where I'm at now and then. I was so pissed last week because I got dressed, raced around like a crazy woman getting Jack to school on time so I wouldn't be late for chemo (mornings are really bad for my pain because I've usually not had medicine all night) anyway got to chemo and pharmacy wouldn't release my chemo drugs. My Oncologist had been away the week before and I had come down with another infection and needed antibiotics so chemo was put off until the following week. I was booked in to see my Oncologist two days later. Anyway bottom line is he ordered pharmacy not to release my chemo because I hadn't seen him beforehand, even though I was booked in afterwards anyway. I got the chemo nurse to get on the phone to him and beg him telling him I was fine but no, wouldn't budge. So I was that upset because I have had a few hiccups where I have had to put off my chemo for a week or two and I am so worried that it won't work properly if that keeps going on. Anyway I am definitely allowed to have it this Tuesday thank goodness but he has put me on permanent antibiotics as he said one of the drugs I'm on can cause infections. I am also booked in to see some of the top surgeons in the world on July 1st at Peter Mac Institute to see whether they think they can operate. My Oncologist who previously told me that it was inoperable has now asked me to go and see these surgeons as he said he now has another patient with exactly the same cancer and issues that I have and when the surgeons connected with my Oncologist said they wouldn't touch her (which is what they told me) the surgeons at Peter Mac would and did and were successful. Anyway it's a long shot, they won't operate if they find any tumors above my pelvis and if they do operate it is a huge op, they take everything, my uterus, my bladder, my rectum, you know everything in the pelvis. I have to have a bag to wee in, I already have an ileostomy but it will be made permanent into a colostomy and I will be laid up for at least 6 weeks. He said it is huge and the recovery involves rehabilitation. Anyway I will wait and see what happens, I may not even be eligible. Enough for today, except to say I feel really well and I'm loving every minute of it. It doesn't happen often but when it does it is just glorious. Take care everyone, love and healing to you all, Jenna xxx

A friend bought and showed me a book of poetry self published by a woman in my area. I thought that a few of the poems, especially those about parenting with cancer, were spot on.

http://www.musikids.com/glances/
"In 2003, when Lisa Flaxman was 38 years old, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. At that time, her children were six, four and one. Following the diagnosis, Ms. Flaxman, CEO of musiKids, went through two years of surgeries, chemo and radiation.

"Glances at Time" is a collection of poetry that chronicles her cyclical journey as a young mother with serious illness. Through her poetry, Ms. Flaxman connects with people who are battling cancer and demonstrates how writing can help in a difficult time. This book is for the patient, the friend, the family, the health care provider, the doctor, the psychologist - anyone who is or has been been close to illness."

My name is Jenna I am new to this site and group. I am mum to a 20 yr old (shock, horror) and a 6 year old! I have colorectal cancer that spread to the liver and then recurred back in the original site. My doctors say I will be lucky to make 3 years, I need to fight this because there is no way I can leave my son at 9 yrs old, just simply no way. I get terrified at the thought as I am sure all of you mums do too. I am so glad to have found this site and I really hope to be involved and get to know everyone really well. Take care, peace and healing to all. J x

Saw the shrink and she just told me to let it all out and cry. Apparently its all the stress of the last....10 months coming to a head. You think wow i can no think when the chemo head goes. But do I have to think so much anyway going to check out now. Luv you all Sue.
